The Boy Done Good...

Had a good weekends fishing. Henry caught his first carp and a great one too - 12.5lbs *New PB*. I caught 2 carp, an eel and a perch. We also caught lots of roach. Had hoped to catch a few pike in the week but not sure it's cold enough just yet. Cant wait to get piking again.

Windswept Success

Another short session. Managed to land 4 common carp in total in far from ideal conditions. Also lost one in a snag. All hard fighting fish. Will continue at this venue for the chance of catching a grass carp, but may also try for a catfish in a lake nearby.

It's always good to fish a new venue and even better to catch first time. Had a nice carp and roach. Will hopefully try this venue and catch some of the grass carp here.

Record Potential?

Having caught a huge stickleback (A new PB) this weekend, it got me thinking a british record could be in my sights. On next visit i'll take some precision scales with a view to making a claim at the British Record Stickleback - Im sure the new spot I've found could hold a new record and get my (or my nephews) name in the record books.

More success this weekend catching the rarer 'Ninespine Stickleback'. Next trip will be for something a lot bigger!

Micro-Fishing

Re-visited the new spot and targeted the smaller fish. Using tiny hooks to catch the sticklebacks this time. Caught loads with the nephews. Even managed to catch the smallest fish I've ever caught on rod-and-line. Also caught another stone loach (and lost an eel). Hoping to find out what other species this stretch of river might hold. Another cracking weekend!

*NEW SPECIES* - Stone Loach

Had a great weekend. Found a new/unique stretch of river and caught a species I've never caught before - Stone Loach. Caught an eel from the same spot too. First fish of 2014.
